The Chinese Government Scholarships are an initiative by the Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC), administered in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, aiming to foster educational collaboration between China and Pakistan. These Chinese Government Scholarships offer opportunities for Pakistani students to pursue Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD degrees in various fields at Chinese universities for the academic year 2024–25.

Fields of Study
Chinese universities provide a diverse range of academic programs, including but not limited to science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, economics, legal studies, management, education, history, literature, philosophy, and the fine arts. These programs are available for scholarship recipients at all levels of study.
Benefits of Chinese Government Scholarship
The Chinese Government Scholarship Program covers several aspects:
Tuition Funds: These funds are utilized comprehensively by the host university and may cover educational expenses, administration costs, health insurance, and support for student activities.
Accommodation: Awardees are provided free university dormitory accommodation or an accommodation subsidy.
Stipend: The stipend amount varies based on the level of study:
Undergraduate students: CNY 2,500 per month (minimum)
Masters students: CNY 3,000 per month (minimum)
PhD students: CNY 3,500 per month (minimum)
Travel Expenditure: Scholars are responsible for bearing their travel costs, as HEC holds no financial liability in this regard.

Eligibility Criteria for Chinese Government Scholarship
Nationality: Applicants must be Pakistani/AJ&K nationals, ineligible if holding dual nationality.
Health: Good health is a mandatory requirement.
Educational Background: Criteria vary based on the level of study:
- For the undergraduate/bachelor’s program: completion of intermediate/A-level/FA-FSC (12-year) education and being under 25 at the time of application.
- For the Masters’s program, you must possess a bachelor’s degree (16 years old) and be under 35 at the time of application.
- For PhD/Doctoral program: Holding a Masters degree MS/MPhil (17/18 years) and aged under 40 at the time of application.
Other Requirements: Applicants must meet application requirements outlined on the China Scholarship Council website, including academic eligibility, language proficiency, and other specified criteria.
Scholarships: Applicants should not currently be receiving any other types of scholarships.
Test Score: A minimum HAT or USAT test score of 50 out of 100 is compulsory. Applicants who have taken the test after January 1, 2023, may upload the test result to the HEC portal for consideration.

Required Documents for Chinese Government Scholarship
During the application process for the Chinese Government Scholarship, applicants must prepare and submit the following documents:
- Completed and signed application forms for both HEC and CSC.
- Attested copies of all educational documents, ID proofs (CNIC/B-form), Domicile, IBCC equivalency certificate (if applicable), and HEC equivalency (if applicable).
- A Study Plan or Research Proposal in Chinese or English, language proficiency certificate or IELTS/TOEFL/HSK score (where applicable), and a copy of a valid ordinary passport until March 01, 2025 (first two pages).
- A photocopy of the physical examination record for foreigners is completed in English, including basic blood test reports, adhering to Chinese government policy. The original copy should be kept by the applicant.
- Non-criminal Record (Police Clearance Certificate) not older than six months before the application deadline.
- Two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English from professors or associate professors are required for graduate programs.
- Applicants under 18 should submit valid documents of their legal guardians in China.
- Any other documents specified in the application guidelines.
How to Apply?
HEC Portal: Apply online via the HEC portal (scholarship.hec.gov.pk) under “Learning Opportunities Abroad”. The application deadline is December 28, 2023, at 23:59 PM Pakistan Standard Time. Update your HEC profile before applying and ensure the completion and submission of the application form.
CSC Portal: Submit the online application on the CSC portal (campuschina.org or csc.edu.cn) under Category A (Agency No. 5861). Download and complete the Chinese Government Scholarship online application form on the CSC portal.

Completeness: Ensure all required documents are uploaded and submitted correctly on both portals. Incomplete or by-hand applications will not be considered.
Deadline
The deadline for submitting online applications for the Chinese Government Scholarship on the HEC portal (www.scholarship.hec.gov.pk) for learning opportunities abroad is Thursday, December 28, 2023.
Note: Hard copies of applications are not required at this stage. Incomplete or saved applications will not be entertained. Applicants are advised to follow the application guidelines meticulously to avoid disqualification.
