Lahore, Pakistan – Ali Khan Tareen, a key figure in Pakistan’s cricket landscape, is making significant strides in modernizing the game and promoting inclusivity. As the owner of Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Multan Sultans, Tareen has introduced data-driven methodologies to enhance team performance while also championing women’s cricket development in South Punjab.
In recent developments, Catherine Clare Dalton, a former Ireland and England A international cricketer, visited Pakistan at Tareen’s invitation to coach a girls’ cricket team. Dalton lauded his efforts in empowering female cricketers, stating, “Ali’s initiative to provide structured coaching and opportunities for young girls is remarkable. It’s inspiring to see his commitment to inclusivity and development.”
Additionally, Nathan Andrew Leamon, the Multan Sultans’ Director of Strategy, visited Tareen’s Lodhran farm on January 9 to review the franchise’s strategic direction. Leamon, a leading cricket strategist, praised the team’s use of advanced analytics and data-driven decision-making, emphasizing how these innovations have helped Multan Sultans maintain a competitive edge in the PSL. “The passion and planning Ali brings to cricket management are unparalleled,” Leamon stated.
Tareen, who assumed ownership of Multan Sultans in 2018, has transformed the franchise into a powerhouse, culminating in their PSL title victory in 2021. His leadership has been instrumental in introducing renowned international coaches, including Owen Eastwood, and integrating cutting-edge sports analytics into team strategy.
Beyond franchise success, Tareen continues to invest in grassroots cricket, particularly in South Punjab. His advocacy for women’s cricket has led to groundbreaking initiatives, including appointing Hijab Zahid as the first female General Manager in South Asian sports.
Ali Khan Tareen, born March 8, 1989, in Lahore, is the only son of renowned businessman and philanthropist Jahangir Khan Tareen. Jahangir Khan Tareen is a leading agriculturalist in South Punjab with diverse interests in sugarcane, fruit, and vegetable farming, corporate agriculture, and electricity generation from bagasse and ethanol production. His philanthropic efforts, primarily through the Tareen Foundation, have significantly contributed to South Punjab’s development.
Beyond cricket, Ali Khan Tareen is the CEO of JK Group, a business conglomerate primarily involved in sugar manufacturing. He also leads ATF Mango Farms, a corporate farming venture cultivating sugarcane, mangoes and various crops. In addition to his business leadership, Tareen spearheads various social development initiatives, including the Tareen Education Foundation and the Lodhran Pilot Project, both focused on improving education and infrastructure in underserved regions.
