Team Swift: Student drone team from GIKI wins the Dawn Jaeger Tenacity Award at SUAS 2023

Team Swift, a student-powered team based in the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (GIKI), have achieved a historic milestone by winning the Dawn Jaegar Tenacity Award at the SUAS Competition 2023.

With this award, Team Swift has not only brought pride to their institution but also to the entire nation. This achievement highlights their dedication and contribution as trailblazers in the field of autonomous unmanned aerial systems.

The SUAS Competition serves as a platform for talented teams from around the world, to showcase their expertise in developing and operating autonomous unmanned aerial systems.

The competition, Student Unmanned Aerial Systems (SUAS), took place at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Maryland, US, from June 20 to 22.

It was organised by the Association for Unscrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI), the world`s largest nonprofit organisation dedicated to the advancement of unscrewed systems and robotics.

This world-class event saw participation from 72 global teams from countries, including India, Israel, Hong Kong, the UK, the US, Mexico, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Norway, Italy,Saudi Arabia, Canada, and Thailand.

These teams were tasked with designing, building and operating an autonomous unmanned air system.

Despite fierce competition from countries, Team Swift demonstrated exceptional determination, perseverance, and innovative thinking, which led to their well-deserved recognition with the Dawn Jaegar Tenacity Award.
