Pakistani madrassa graduate gets honored for his exceptional research by South Korean government

South Korean ministry of Education honors top PhD researchers in science and technology. From each field of study students are nominated for the “best researcher award”.

This time, a student from Pakistan, Maulana Dr. Qazi Saqibul Islam, who has graduated from an Islamic Madrassa has won the glorious title. He was awarded during his PhD for his work on sustainable energy.

He has won the BK honor award for 2021 too and was praised in the Korean newspaper headlines. During his PhD, the young researcher has won around seven outstanding awards and several conference awards including the best conference award, Nagasaki, Japan – 2019.

This is one of a kind event that an Islamic Madrassa graduate has excelled in both, religious and modern scientific studies.

This brilliant researcher hails from Muzaffarabad, Azad Kashmir and has done BE, Electronic Engineering from Dawood University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi.

He later enrolled in Kuliyatul Shariah at Karachi’s Jamia-tur-Rasheed for Islamic studies under the supervision of Mufti Syed Adnan Kakakhel.

Ever since, he has been working on developing links between university and madrassa graduates. He used to arrange and conduct dialogues between the two on the topics of interest.

After completion of his Islamic studies course, he went abroad to complete his MS from the Kyungpook National University and PhD from Jeju National University of South Korea.

During his PhD, he used to lead prayers and arrange religious seating at the central mosque of his university.
