The global gaming market size is expected to reach The global gaming market size is expected to reach $546 billion by 2028, according to Fortune Business Insights.

Pakistan’s gaming industry is aimed at producing apps for cell phones. “It is all copy paste from one another,” laments game engineer Shehmir Riaz Bhatti who is working on Texas hold ‘em poker for a Chinese company.

“Pakistan is growing, no doubt, but our workforce is not top calibre. Hardly any big brand name gaming firm, such as Call of Duty [owned by Activision Blizzard], has their presence in Pakistan, whereas all of them have a branch or two in India,” he said.

Heavy investments are made to market the game to ensure its downloads, but no effort is made to develop a unique product, he added.

The advertisement revenue from downloads accrues to the publisher. Thus, their interest is not in innovation or creativity but in cloning popular games that allow for a quick buck.

Furthermore, the lack of access to capital cripples developers that want to work with passion and ingenuity.

There have been rumors circulating on Mainstream M There have been rumors circulating on Mainstream Media/Social Media about Google Play Services being suspended by Dec 1, 2022.

📰 The State Bank of Pakistan has suspended a payment of $34 million to international service providers after which mobile users will not beable to download Google Play Store services from December 01, 2022.

Mobile Network Operators (MNO) allow users to make in-app purchases (Skins, Weapons, Coins etc) through airtime or mobile balance and in-turn settles payment directly through Google. State Bank has paused such payments, as a result of which consumers will have to use alternative channels such as Debit/Credit Card to make any such purchases.

This does not impact Google Play Services in any way and they will continue to work.

The enchantment this image embodies never ceases to amaze the eye , and now it's making us proud as a Pakistani to see the talent being appreciated at so many forums.

Mohammad Adeel in Islamabad, Pakistan, shared this photo he took of the last partial solar eclipse. He wrote: "You can not only see the shadow of the moon obscuring a part of the sun, but if you look closely at the lower edge of the moon's shadow over the solar surface, it appears to be jagged and unusual.

These are visible due to the solar light passing through the mountains and peaks of the lunar surface at the terminator, giving it a jagged look. The black dot that you see over the right lower half is just a visibility marker hanging over the distant power lines.”

We have a tremendous news for everyone interested We have a tremendous news for everyone interested in Neuroscience, for millions of patients suffering from the debilitating Alzheimer disease, and a proud moment for all Pakistanis.

Pakistani-origin Neuroscientist Dr Ali Jawaid (@alijawaid_) who heads TREND lab @jawaidlab in Warsaw, Poland has been awarded a whooping amount of 1.2 million Euros to discover mechanisms for non-pharmacological therapy for Alzheimer disease.

Dr. Jawaid will lead a team comprising globally reputed neuroscientists from Poland, Switzerland, and Australia to explore the potential of environmental enrichment as a therapy for Alzheimer disease. He postulates that environmenral enrichment approaches can alter the properties of brain immune cells microglia in a way that they can selectively remove toxic deposits and unhealthy neurons in neurodegenerative disorders, such as Alzheimer disease.

Acromymized as TREMENDOS, Dr. Jawaid’s project won the highly competitive 2022 call from European Union Joint Program for Neurodegeneration. He was previously awarded 400K Euros to study epigenetic inheritance of childhood trauma in 2021.

An alumnus of Aga Khan University (Pakistan), Baylor College of Medicine (USA), and ETH Zurich (Switzerland), Dr. Ali Jawaid has published in top-notch scientific journals including Nature, Science, Nature Neuroscience, Neuron, and Molecular Neurodegeneration. With an H-index of 25 and only in his mid 30s, Dr. Ali Jawaid is well on his way to become one of the most successful Neuroscientists, not only of Pakistani origin but also globally.

Bendable concrete scientifically termed as Enginee Bendable concrete scientifically termed as Engineered Cementitious Composite (ECC) is a type of Ultra-High-Performance Concrete in which short discrete fibers are added to make it flexible and ductile.

Its special properties make it possible to build highly safe, cost-effective, and long-lasting earthquake-resistant construction with lower carbon footprints. Due to inherent ductility and improved tensile capacity, ECC can help to reduce 30-40% steel reinforcement and 25-30% concrete volume in the structure reducing the overall cost of the project by 20-30%.

Students, Sikandar Ali Khokhar and Touqeer Ahmed along with their advisor Dr. Rao Arsalan Khushnood at NUST Institute of Civil Engineering have been working on the implementation of Bendable concrete in Pakistan to provide a safe and economic alternative against deadly earthquakes.

During 2 years of R&D, they developed a more rapid designing tools and simplified adoption methodologies that removed the uncertainties in the way of commercialisation of Bendable concrete.

Currently, they are also working at National Science & Technology Park (NSTP) with the startup named “Bendcrete”. The company is working to create a more resilient and sustainable society by using their innovative composite.

They aim to mitigate the damage potential of high intensity ground motion, as well achieving better structural integrity.
