Team Markhor of NUST enters the finals of Baja SAE beating 250+ teams from around the world

The Competition

Baja SAE is a Collegiate Design Series competition run by the Society of Automotive Engineers International (SAE International). Teams of students from universities all over the world design and build small off-road cars. Competition is divided into static and dynamic events.

One such event is the business presentation, where the teams take on the role of an automotive company, and present a business proposal, with the intention of attracting investors. The presentations were meticulously analyzed by the judges, scoring the teams on factors such as the company’s marketing plan, sales, manufacturing etc.

Finalists in Virtual Business Presentation

Team Markhor from National University of Science and Technology (NUST) made it as Finalists in the Virtual Business Presentation round of Baja SAE while competing against 250+ teams from all over the world including universities such as MIT, Michigan, Georgia Tech. The team is all set to take part in the final round of the competition, which is going to be held in Arizona, USA. A monumental achievement for the team, one that will surely bolster the confidence of all young car enthusiasts in the country.

The Team

Team Markhor is a student-run competition team housed within NUST that designs, builds, and races off-road vehicles to compete in Baja SAE. By encouraging hands-on engineering and project-based learning, team Markhor takes engineering out of the classroom and onto the track for 75 students.

Team Markhor aims to promote off-road rallies at the student level in Pakistan, and to establish Pakistan’s name in international automotive competitions. To pave the path for ourselves and our future generations, to learn and grow in the automotive industry, and for all those with a passion for vehicles to have an avenue to explore and nurture their interests, all while positively contributing to society.
